Say hello to Chuan’s parents Melody & Jin Shotel

* Long entry ahead LOL *
Jin and Melody round out the Shotel clan. They might just be the kookiest members of the whole family.
Melody Shotel is a loving mother, talented fitness instructor, genius cook, and ultimate home maker! She absolutely loves spoiling her family (especially with her cooking) and is always there to help, no matter what the task (maybe a little TOO much sometimes). It can sometimes be quite overwhelming just trying to comprehend how one person can be so skilled at so much, or how quickly she’s able to learn new skills. She has the sweetest disposition, with a smile that could melt the polar ice caps, yet when she is serious, she’s a force to be reckoned with.
There is one skill that leaves much to be desired, however… And that’s her “match making” ability. No matter what her son, Chuan, finds himself faced with, nothing scares him as much as his mother’s tenacity to set him up with someone. What’s worse, she puts all of her creative faculties into her schemes, thus creating quite interesting situations for her dear son. (and hilarious entertainment for the rest of the family)
In her off time, she spends it chilling out with Child hood best friend Francine Harmonies (Shavan’s Mother) Gabbing about something ridiculous, designing new cake recipes (which her husband GREATLY appreciates), helping out at Francine’s coffee shop and cafe, or getting together to plot another blind date set up for Chuan.
Jin Shotel runs an ultra successful Martial Arts Training center franchise (The Golden Tiger, which is also his own unique style), and offers a variety of training hailing from many different backgrounds and cultures. He has a good head on his shoulders, and many throughout the fighting community believe him to be one of the best in the world. While he sounds amazing on paper, he is actually quite the idiot. Yes he really is something to be admired, but his behavior is less than becoming of his title. It’s actually more like a big kid… A big kid that loves cake. His training methods also leave something to be desired from his own kids. Namely, Chuan.
Well, despite Jin being so goofy, he really does love his family, and works hard for them all. Most notably, his son Chuan, who has the potential to become the world’s greatest martial artist! Er at least, that’s how he feels.
His greatest conflict comes from his annoying buddy and rival. The owner of the equally successful Azure Dragon Training center. Ren Clement. Ren is an equally stupid but equally talented practitioner of the arts. Ren believes his daughter Anya will become the strongest, and that his style will become recognized as the world’s best.
The two have decided to place a little wager based on how their children preform at the next world championships. It would have been nice if Jin told Chuan about it, though…
It’s a stupid rivalry, but neither will relent, and both seem to enjoy the challenge.
Wheeeew. This was a long one. If you sat through this and read it all, you truly are a good watcher LOL.
I can’t believe I’m almost done with the prelim stuff for this story. Only a bit more to go and I’ll be ready to start drawing pages!
